Because Vacations Should Feel Great!
If you're staying at a WDW resort hotel, you can use ANY resort amenities.
Hop a bus to find some new things to do at other hotels, here's a few ideas:
Value resort pools don't have waterslides. Moderate resort pools do. Let the kids slide the afternoon away while you get a Florida tan and a margarita by the pool. It saves you cost of a few water park tickets!
The Grand Floridian has high tea every afternoon. It comes with al a carte food items and you may be surprised who you meet there!
Animal Kingdom Lodge Jambo House has a nice sahara observation area, with lots of cool animals. After 7pm, you can roast marshmallows in the firepit for free there. If you're staying elsewhere, ride the bus and get off at the second AK Lodge bus stop. Then walk through the lobby and out the back door.
Want to spend the day in the park on checkout day, before leaving Disney? Check all of your luggage at the hotel desk and come back for it later.
Strollers are super-expensive to rent at Disney! Rather than renting, purchase a cheap stroller on Amazon and have it shipped to your hotel in your name. Then give it to another family as you are leaving. You won't have baggage fees for your home stroller and it's cheaper than renting!
Setup a wakeup call, even if you have an alarm clock. Nobody wants to find out that they slept through the hotel alarm, and kids love it because Mickey is the caller!
Buy surprise gifts "from Tinkerbell" at the dollar store, then leave them in your hotel room for the kids to find when they come back from the parks.
Don't be afraid to decorate the hotel rooms. Dollar store window clings are a fun way for kids to personalize the hotel room.
Standard hotel rooms can hold 4 adults and an infant under 3. Disney offers a free rental Pack n Play for the infant to sleep in, just ask!
Winderness Lodge Campground has a free sing-along with Chip and Dale in the evenings.
Guests staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge can enjoy a night-vision Jeep tour safari after dark for about $70 per person.
Avoiding Extra Magic Hours will not only help with park lines, but also bus lines when you're trying to get to the park. Plan to avoid the parks with Extra Magic Hours because of the huge crowds.
There is medicine in the hotel gift shops for sale, but it's expensive. We bring travel packs from home.
Avoid timeshare presentations in exchange for Disney Tickets. It really isn't worth it unless you're shopping for a timeshare.
Disney Vacation Club is something to decide on after researching at home. Don't eat up a day of your vacation looking at timeshares. They tend to be better priced from home, as well.
Kids tend to have just as much fun at nice resort pools as the water parks, save the money and plan a day by the pool.
If a special comes out after you book your reservation, call and ask for the special price. Disney will usually honor it.
You can purchase park tickets when you arrive at the resort, but you will only have the choice of a grey Magicband. Book your tickets at least a few weeks before arriving to choose other colors.
Victoria and Albert's restaurant at the Grand Floridian is a 5-star restaurant with some of the best food you will find on the property. For those with an even more expensive taste, try booking the Chef's Table for a one-on-one chef's choice menu prepared right before you, or the Queen Victoria Room for a royal dining experience.
The Grand Floridian usually has a live pianist playing in the lobby. Port Orleans has a live pianist several times weekly at the River Roost.
The best pools are: Coronado Springs' Mayan Ruin pool, Wilderness Lodge's Geyser pool, and the Yacht Club/Beach Club's Shipwreck pool.
Book a carriage ride for 4 costing about $45 in Port Orleans or Fort Wilderness resorts from 6-9:30pm each day. Reserve at 1 (407) WDW-PLAY.
Rent fishing poles at Port Orleans or Fort Wilderness resorts for about $4/half-hour or $9/day. Catch and release only.
Rent kayaks, canoes, or pedal boats from any moderate/deluxe/vacation-club resort for about $7/half-hour.
Rent a 12-foot sailboat for two from any moderate/deluxe/vacation-club resort for about $21/hour.
Fort Wilderness offers pony rides for small kids from 10am-5pm daily for $5. Parking is free.
Watch a free outdoor Disney movie during the campfire sing-along at Fort Wilderness, Beach Club, or Grand Floridian resorts at 7pm nightly (8pm in Summer or Spring). Chip and Dale are around for autographs! Buy a smores kit for $9 or bring your own. It's free and no reservation is required.
Port Orleans shows a nightly outdoor Disney movie from November to March.
The Boardwalk is only a 3-minute stroll from Swan and Dolphin resorts.
